The proportion of under-30s buying homes has fallen to its lowest level on record - just 3 percent became a homeowner in June. That compares to 48 percent of buyers being aged 31 to 40, according to the National Association of Estate Agents. Meanwhile the number of first-time buyers accounted for a fifth of sales in June, down from a quarter in May.
