Trent Sound Careline

Trent Sound’s Careline feature is broadcast hourly throughout weekday live programmes.  It is run in association with Nottingham CVS and is designed to highlight voluntary work in the Nottingham area and increase awareness of community-orientated organisations operating in the city.

The Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust is the leading wildlife conservation charity working to protect and enhance the wildlife and habitats of Nottinghamshire by managing nature reserves, engaging, inspiring, advising and educating people to create a richer natural world for present and future generations.


They are seeking a Marine Campaign Volunteer.  Perhaps you want to gain experience in helping to run a campaign or maybe you have an interest in marine life and want to help

The Government has recently passed a new Marine Act.  This is the first major piece of legislation that deals with conservation in the marine environment and it is vital that the Act is implemented. To ensure this happens, The Wildlife Trusts are mounting a national campaign to focus on marine issues.  We are looking for volunteers to help run this campaign for Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust.

Groundworks works with local people to give them the skills necessary to improve their own environment.  Groundworks are looking for a "Walk on the Wildside" Trip Organiser.  The Walk On the Wildside project (WOW) is an exciting new Access to Nature project that aims to make local nature areas more accessible for communities in Radford and Hyson Green. We are looking for enthusiastic and committed volunteers from Radford and Hyson Green to help out at events and to supervise groups on day trips.


Main tasks Supervising groups on trips  & helping to give out flyers at events and talk to people about the project


WOW aims to create exciting opportunities for residents in Radford and Hyson Green to access local areas of nature. A key part of this project will be delivering a series of trips and events throughout the year, so far we have delivered a shelter building session at Bestwood and an Outdoor photography workshop at Wollaton Hall. By volunteering with WOW you will get the chance to come along on trips whilst developing and learning new skills.


Volunteering with WOW will give you the opportunity to develop your skills, and confidence whilst meeting new people and making a difference to your local community.

Outburst is a youth project for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender young people.  It is based in central Nottingham at Base 51.  There are around 60+ members of the group and we see a regular attendance of about 30+ young people.  We offer advice and information and support as well as a engaging environment for young people to meet other LGBT people. Ourburst are looking for a LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans) Youth Worker


Assisting with a group for lgbt young people aged 11-25 at our weekly meeting. We need people who come and help with a range of activities including art, music, drama, raising awareness of issues relevant to young people and people who are LGBT.


We are particularly interested in volunteers who are female, trans or from a 'Black and Asian Minority Ethinic' (BAME)  community.  Volunteers should be 25 and over.


Duties to include helping set up activities, signing young people in to the building, speaking and listening to young people, helping new young people meet existing members and settle in, helping on the coffee bar, helping to put on sessions, helping to tidy up after a session, team meetings & some optional activities in addition to a Monday (eg. visiting other groups etc)

The "Signpost to Polish Success" is designed to support Nottingham's thriving Polish community.  They are looking for a volunteer translator/interpretor to act as a translator on behalf of our Polish services users when they visit a bank, school, with their GPs etc, to act as a translator/facilitator in giving information and advice, appointments with lawyers ex: Law Centre, CAB & o maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality when dealing with our service users.

The purpose of the Malt Cross is to engage with the community in Nottingham, and through this the Street Pastor Project aims to love, support and care for those who use the city's night time economy making the city safer.  


Malt Cross is seeking a Street Pastor/Safe Space Volunteer


Street Pastors aim to bring care to those enjoying Nottingham's Saturday night life. You would need to commit to  one night a month (Friday or Saturday from 10pm-3am) and will work in teams of 4, listening, caring for and helping anyone you come across.


Training sessions will be provided, in areas such  as First Aid, Conflict Management, Drugs and Alcohol, Victim support as well as support from police and cctv teams during night shifts.


A Street Pastor must be a committed Christian, and a known member of a Nottingham church.
